I love Jonesboro High School! I had the option to attend two other high schools in the district, but I chose this one because I liked that they had a phenomenal marching band of which I am a part of, and I was interested in the Political Science Magnet Program of which I am also in. They also have a diverse group of extracurricular activities that many students can participate in as well as being academically sound, whether it’s sports or otherwise. There is something for every student.
Academically, I have had some great teachers. I have also taken a prep SAT class which was offered on Saturdays for 6 weeks. I feel like Jonesboro High School had provided me with a lot of positive resources that has encouraged me to be a more successful student.
Band has also been a great influence on my artistic ability as a snare drummer. We traveled to perform when I was a freshman to Chicago, Alabama, Tennessee and all over Georgia.
I have valued my experience at Jonesboro so far.

As a student currently attending Jonesboro High School, I feel as though our school is quite average. There are many exemplary programs/classes within the school that help to prepare my fellow classmates to become career and college ready educated students. The teachers within the school are very kind and take their time when we are learning new topics and lessons. One complaint I have against the school would be that there should be more of a support system for students who are suffering with their mental health. Everyone should be free to express themselves without being at risk of being judged or deemed as less then. I'm a firm believer in mental help and feel that this will elevate our school to a whole new level if they are able to implement these safe places.
The Teachers and the principal being great at what they do to keep the school and students in class. teaching students is great because it can show you that how of what students will learn about being successful in life. Therefore, the purpose of school must be to give students the skills to get a job. This means that education is a way for anyone to support him or herself and economically contribute to society (Education). Some of these skills are taught in many of the basic classes: reading, writing, and arithmetic. If asked, most people would say that the purpose of school is to provide knowledge, but the question becomes what knowledge and who should decide. Is learning for the sake of learning what school is about? Learning expands the mind and school is a way for students to be exposed to different ideas and concepts. Knowledge obtained through school can provide students with a sense of personal fulfillment (Education).
