The staff responsiveness (teachers, administration, counselors, etc) was amazing throughout middle school. They have a wonderful way of encouraging independence & self-advocacy in students & we saw our student grow tremendously in this respect. The teachers make themselves accessible. The school counselor was phenomenal, both caring & proactive. The hard part was social, the students tend to segregate themselves over time, mostly racially.
It's also challenging for anyone with cultural differences and for the socially awkward. More student & parent programs encouraging speaking out against bullying may help prevent some of the bullying and cliques inherent in middle school. More educational programs about diversity and acceptance may help too, given the relative lack of diversity in the student population. The social environment can be challenging, but the school itself otherwise rocks.

My time here was probably the worst. I remember being excited for middle school back in 5th grade and was heavily dissapointed. I literally learned nothing in some of the classes, in fact I learned more from the substitute than the actual teacher. Plus a bunch of shady stuff happens here but is often hidden by the district. The kids here are crazy. No freedom too whatsoever.
I transferred to Clarke in January, and the teachers and classmates made me feel very welcome. However, though, I felt very different as I'm Asian, which stood out a tiny bit to the others. If you transferred to this school later than September, you don't get the chance to join any clubs. Some people weren't very welcoming and were racist towards me. I had an ok time at Clarke, but I wouldn't recommend this school to people who want to feel at home and safe.
