This school could be great if our school board. Wasn’t so awful. They have so much money and refuse to use it to help the kids in the district. Yes we have the shiny brand new facilities but they are worthless without support for the students. In our district everything is about politics. When it should really be about the kids themselves. I don’t understand why we can’t just work our hardest to make things better for everyone. Our school board has even tried to ban books from our shelves. I hope people in the community take a stand over this. Lastly our school doesn’t offer AP classes leaving kids, like myself who need the extra push, bored and learning nothing from their classes. Thus leading us to lose out on opportunities for college. Without these two details our school would be awesome.
I had a very good experience with wonderful music and sports opportunities and teachers who gave an extra hand when I needed help. Johnstown can improve by helping students better prepare for college and be aware of their options regarding duel credit courses, scholarships, and academic guidance.
Pros: Most teachers and staff in the school are very nice, are good at their job and have a passion for teaching. Modern building and cafeteria food. Lots of student activities, like sports, choir, band, and more.
Cons: Dress code for a public school is too strict, and is obviously more enforced against girls than boys. The school building is very bland, and shows little proof of student involvement in the school environment.
