I found my experience at Johnston Senior High to be a pleasant experience. Many of the teachers are very open both in the class room and out of the classroom and almost always provide help if somebody asks for it. However, there are always a bad few that can spoil the mood but, luckily this school didn't have many of those teachers. The general administration is also amazing they really care about each student and realize everyone has their own life outside of the school setting. There are a few faults however, the school is in a large state of disrepair as is many schools in the area. The course catalog is very small not allowing more adventurous students a chance to branch out as well as not offering a lot of pathways most schools have now. They are not very good as preparing students for life after school whether it be to go into the work force or continue education. Navigating college applications is heavily put on the students and guidance can be very hard to contact.
Johnston Senior High School has a community atmosphere with many different places one can “fit in”. It’s not limited to one type of person and is diverse in many ways. There’s a lot to get involved in and it’s generally not too overwhelming in size.
Overall experience was average, but had good clubs & activities, school culture, and music program..
In my opinion staying involved in schools activities will make your experience ten times better. I played on Johnston's basketball team all four years of high school and that was one the best experiences I had throughout high school. Also, I helped with the disabled kids basketball team after my season was over. So even when my teams season was over I could help others with the same sport. Lastly, when it cam to the battle of classes and pep rallys' it made my experience fun too.
I loved all the events of course. Clubs, school dances. Would most definitely fix the bathrooms and improve the cooking and menu. I know they’re trying their best, but the school hasn’t been the same maintainer wise since 2013/2014. But no hate at all!
I really liked my time at JHS. I created close bonds with teachers, students, and the administration. While some people might enjoy their time, if you take the time to get involved, it will be a great high school experience!
I have made many friends and met amazing teachers attending Johnston. I could name numerous amount of teachers that have changed me in such a short period of time and have made my high school experience memorable.
I was a new student to Johnston Senior High School last year (2019). The students and staff were very welcoming and kind. I adapted to the school very quickly and gladly my grades were not affected by the change due to the helpful and supportive teachers. If I could change something is the building itself. Some place in the school are in poor conditions like the bathroom and some classrooms. Also, there is a small mice problem too, that needs a solution too. But overall, my experience with Johnston Senior High School is good, made many friends, I am part of a sport with a good coach and joined clubs. At this school I feel welcomed and involved.
My experience was not terrible at Johnston Senior High School, I enjoyed the extracurricular activities I took part in during my time there
I have had the opportunity to meet very diverse people. I am also grateful to have been able to participate in sports of my choosing provided by my school.
Johnston High School has been a very good high school. I would like to see them improve on the availability of AP classes for students. They don’t offer all AP classes and students must pay for the exams themselves while things like credit recovery and summer school are paid for. I believe that many students don’t take the AP classes due to the unavailable funds.
There are a handful of teachers that truthfully care about students while others are obviously there to simply collect a paycheck. Administration tends to favor underperforming kids while punishing those who rarely violate school rules. The building cleanliness is poor as well as the condition of the physical building itself.
I honestly had an alright experience at Johnston Senior High School. It was not overly positive or negative, and I did meet some amazing teachers along the way. Most of my classes were challenging and engaging, and overall it was not a bad school.
This school offers many opportunities to its students and is ever growing in academics and extracurriculars. There are many ways a student can become involved in ways that fit their certain interests.
I really liked it because it's a very nice school, everyone's really nice and the academics are high. There are students who don't try but that's present in every school.
Johnston Senior High School is a great school. It offers many activities with school spirit and keeps all students connected. My favorite activities are during homecoming season. No other school in Johnston does it like us. I also feel as though I have learned a lot during my 4 years and I will truly miss it when I graduate.
I would say that my experience at Johnston Senior High School wasn’t the worst. The school offers a ton of classes so it wouldn’t be difficult for a student to find a class that suits them. There is a lot of support from faculty and staff who quickly become your friends throughout your years. There are plenty of staff that care about making your high school experience the best years of your life. There are other teachers, mostly older teachers, who just don’t have the passion for teaching. There isn’t much discipline in the schools to the kids who actually need it. The kids who do well in school could be given detention for wearing slides while students that consistently cut classes and disrespect teachers barely ever receive detention. The bathrooms are usually dirty and barely kept. I would say that the good outweighs the bad in this school, but there is more to be done.
