As a new student coming into Johnston Senior High school my freshman year, I did not feel as though I did not fit in, and was surprised by the variety of classes this school has. My schedule consisted of honors and regular college prep classes. Having a diverse schedule I was able to meet many new friends who guided me in the right direction. The teachers are understanding and the students that I have talked to have atleast one adult they can confide in. Classrooms are in decent shape, do wish for better cleanliness and food choices. Have had a great experience!

I've had amazing teachers who strongly influenced my decisions on a major! I enjoyed all the arts programs and after-school sports programs. I had many different electives that I could choose from, which is excellent for exploring my interests.
I've lived in Johnston, Iowa for most of my childhood. I started 1st grade at Lawson Elementary and now i will be graduating soon from Johnston High school. My experience at Johnston High School wasn't the greatest for me, but some of that was my fault. Most classes are busy work that you need to do in order to pass the class, with just average teachers. Then there are the teachers that are passionate about what they're teaching and you can tell they are. Now i've only seen a handful of teachers with this passion, but it doesn't mean the other teachers are bad, they just have bad classes that may not motivate high schoolers to show up to class. Overall i've liked Johnston but my high school experience here was not the greatest.
