The faculty and staff at John Stark Regional High School are very helpful and caring. I am being challenged and my teachers are encouraging me to push myself.
Although this has been my one and only high school experience, I have good and bad things to say. The faculty and staff are so friendly and helpful, you feel right at home. However, the grading system is all over the place. In my years here, the grading system has changed each year, leaving inconsistencies. The teachers all have a different definition of pass/fail and it is extremely hard to keep up with when you have eight different classes. Asides from that, there are many fun classes to take such as marine biology, astronomy, forensics, and criminal justice. Very good school, but the grading system needs a lot of help.
The school isn’t very big which creates everyone to know everyone. This can be good or bad, mostly everyone is nice and friendly but just like any other school there are the students who just like to be rude. Overall it’s a great school with great teachers and academics.
There were a variety of AP courses, but that number was dwindling as budget cuts were made. The teachers are extraordinarily dedicated. The math program could use some help, particularly the lower levels of math.
John Stark had a lot of great people that were willing to help the students to be the best that they could be. John Stark can always use improving but overall it was a pretty good experience.
i got karate chopped in the trachea by a special ed kid, definitely would not recommend, easy one star
the school false flagged for a vandalism in the school lunchroom, then once they proved my innocence they suspended the investigation
John Stark is a great community to meet new people and learn new things. There is some flaws about Stark but overall it’s a great school because of the staff and opportunities that Stark gives. Yes some of the staff have their flaws as well, some students don’t like the way they teach or grade but every school have a few of those. The art and theater programs are excellent so if you like that then this is a perfect school! This school tries to come together as a community as much as possible. But sometimes it’s difficult to get everyone to come together be apart of school activities.

The programs, clubs, sports, and many other activities provided/started at John Stark are extremely progressive and very useful to real life applications.
I like how involved the teachers are with helping their students succeed. Throughout my 4 years, almost every teacher has helped me succeed in all my classes and get to the point of where I am now. They also have a wide range of classes and clubs that have also helped get me ready for my future. Peer leadership being one of the most important. I have learned many leadership skills and have been able to work with a wide range of people getting me a bunch of experience that will help me in the future.
So here's the deal, this school is bad. Mostly because of staff. That's not to say they are all horrible people, the stem department is full of great teachers, however the English department is horrible. Every Ela teacher has the same dry sense of humor and hate for anything male. Then of course the admins are just as bad and disorganized, due to a lack of control of the student body. Now here's a peek into the social hierarchy, if your not popular and wealthy, may you be bullied to hell. Not a single person can just be focused and go to school. Which is all partly because the student body is probably the most toxic group of degenerate scum on this side of the Mississippi.
I would like to see the grading system change, as I do not believe that receiving a 95 on a summative should result in the L3.5 equivalent grade of a 91; there is a large difference between a 91 and a 100.
The schools Science, World Language, English and History departments are great however the Math department could use some work.
The curriculum is challenging but the grading system changes like every year so it’s never consistent.
Administration is slow-moving and many opportunities pass students by because they are not 'approved' in time (ex: communication with French high school students in French class). However students are always encouraged.
Amazing teachers that will do their absolute best to make sure you succeed. However there have been huge bullying issues that the administration tried to just like sweep under the rug. And the student have no motivation to do their work despite having amazing teachers.
