My Year at John R. Mott High School here in Postville, IA has been incredible. There is so much diversity here in our little 'home town to the world'. Everyone is always being treated fair and almost everyone gets along! One thing I would like to see change is the Fine Arts Programs. They don't get enough attention for what they do. Not even the teachers go to the productions. I would also love to see a group to help young LGBTQ+ individuals, I feel it could help normalize finding yourself in your sexual and gender identity/Identities. I can't wait for my next three years here!
There’s a lot of diversity, and everyone is kind to each other regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, or beliefs.
I like that my school is extremely diverse, no one really picks on anyone for racial reasons becuase we are all different.
I think the school is very unique because of all of the diversity we have. We have all learned to like each other and talk to each other. My favorite experience is when we had a basketball game and there was a whole bunch of people there supporting us.
My experience with this school has been decent. Something that makes this school district unique is how diverse the students are. I think some of the teachers could challenge us more sometimes. If I could do it all over again, I would still choose to attend this school because it is part of who I am. With out that, I wouldn't be the same person.
Our school is pretty serious about no bullying. The principal is also always involved.
Some teachers do work harder than others. The teachers that have been at our school the longest are the ones who seem the most dedicated.
At our school we have the options to join FFA, Student Council, Student Ambassadors, and the Food & Fit Team. We have an equal amount of sports for guys and girls. Student Council and Student Ambassadors does a lot of planning for some of the events that go on in the high school. They usually hold assemblies for some grades or all grades.
The opportunities are slim, but it counts towards fitness. Even though the facility is small, the athletes know how to put in work. Sports are taken serious and there is always a crowd at every sporting event. The student section is magnificent. With cheers that could get the opponents crowd to bite their lip. It's always a good feeling winning games, but when it comes to losing our school does not lack in sportsmanship. The foot ball coaching staff through out the year has been significantly poor. With a new head coach almost every year, it really disorients our team's chemistry and traditions get ruined.
