Overall, O'Connell is a pretty good school. The teachers and staff are super nice and supportive. Whenever you need help with college applications/schoalrships/ACT or SAT exams the College & Career center is always there to give out some support. The after school program helps us with homework and preparing for quizzes and tests. All of the teachers are super helpful. I think that two things that can be improved in my school is the cafeteria food and the "lab models." I think there should be more options for the Juniors and Seniors, since they will stay in the lab for two years staright.

My overall experience at John O'Connell High School was okay. I loved the fact that they prepare you well for college as they make every student take college and career as a high school graduation requirement. In addition, there is a college and career center where plenty of students go to for college readiness help. Lastly, my favorite thing about John O'Connell are the integrated project based learning and internship opportunities they provide in three of the labs offered which are Culinary Arts & Entrepreneurship lab, the Health & Behavioral Sciences lab, and the Construction & Environmental Technology lab. My only big complaint would be the limited amount of honors and AP classes the school offers.
I gotta say John O'Connell is given a bad reputation, but it's really not bad as it seems. The teachers are great and you could really make connections with them. At least from my perspective you can. If you don't understand something and are having trouble with ANYTHING teachers and other staff will be kind enough to lend a hand. Especially if you're struggling academically you will get the help you need. I just wish O'Connell didn't change so much with it's classes and provided much more. More AP classes, definitely more extracurricular (like art and much more).
