The principle selects amazing teachers. The experience of the students is science based. I would work here if I could. Never mind the national rankings; pedagogy (classical teaching style based on the questions and experiences in the minds of the students) is the best. I give this school my eternal blessings and wish that all my children could go here. I want to return to San Diego one day with my six children and give them this learning experience. Thanks John Muir! You set a high standard for my expectations as a Christian parent. :)

I was a nervous wreck sending my 4 y.o. son (who had me at my wits end) to school while I cared for his three younger siblings and dealt with an abusive marriage and a corrupt mormon culture... yet this school gave me structure, direction and relief at every turn. By the time I moved to Texas, my son was three reading levels above his classmates, and his new school used my little boy as their show case child. Who'd a thunk? :) John Muir is an anchor for the ambitious. The best school. in America.
The kindergarten teacher had a beautiful voice and perfect pitch. She would sit with the children and sing simple, classic songs with them. My son is in choir to this day. He loved his kindergarten teacher and would alert me when she had 'some stress'. Oh, thank you John Muir. It made me want to be in kindergarten again. :)
