For the most part, the extracurricular opportunities are awesome! There is a wide variety of clubs, but sometimes administration support isn't the best. Athletics sometimes overshadow clubs and it can be disappointing. This can be referenced with how administration originally refused a state send-off for five Speech members in 2016, despite they always have sendoffs for other clubs... Especially sports. It took the longest time to get the school to start a debate team. Overall, it is pivotal to understand that for the most part extracurriculars are great. It's just administration that can be disappointing.

John Marshall Senior High School was, to me, the most diverse, comfortable, and spirited high school there was in Rochester, Minnesota. When I first entered my first year there, I expected to be a loner and not have any friends, but immediately, my peers made me feel welcome and all of my anxiety left as well. The teachers are overall really kind and very well at doing their job. The clubs at school are very unique and diverse, making kids feel comfortable to express themselves with kids of the same interest and mindset. Overall the school is very nice as well as welcoming. Definitely will miss it when I leave for college. Like our saying, once a rocket, always a rocket.
My favorite aspect of John Marshall Senior High School is the camaraderie. I was so proud when the student body came together raising over 30,000 dollars for Christmas Anonymous. Whenever there is a charitable need, everyone at John Marshall pitches in and does what needs to be done. Being a member of both the John Marshall Dance Team and Marching Band, I have a large part in cheering on the rest of the student body. It’s nice to be a big part of student life. Unfortunately when you have a large student body numbering 1,545 there are occasional fights and skirmishes that put a blemish on John Marshall’s reputation. The news media seems to focus more on the negative than the positive. I would like the community to know the John Marshall I see. Caring students, helpful educators, and school spirit.
