John Marshall High School is known for its beautiful exterior, appearing in movies such as Grease & Nightmare on Elm Street. Marshall has won Academic Decathlons & is overall well known in the Los Angeles area for its academics. Marshall has every club you can possibly imagine, giving students a lot of opportunities to expand their horizons as well as expand their college applications. Besides Marshall's baseball, golf, and tennis teams, their athletic resume is far from honorable. Marshall has also never been known for its food or artistic community & in recent years has suffered from violence, with consecutive weeks of physical fights and bullying.

Marshall offered a good amount of resources if you knew where to look for them. I would recommend getting involved with the College Center as soon as you can, as the scholarship opportunities available through the center can be utilized before senior year comes along. The teachers were okay for a public school, and club activities should be diversified at Marshall. I would have loved to be apart of a Mock Trial or Model UN if afforded the opportunity. LAUSD food quality is generally the same throughout its campuses; you will make do just fine at JMHS if you are determined to do so!
I am attending my senior year at John Marshall High School. Marshall focuses on providing a well rounded environment to help students excel in their academic performance. Marshall is divided among different programs within the school. I am in the School for Environmental Studies. I have taken Environmental Technology and AP Environmental Science which opened my eyes on the problems we face regarding climate change, human activity that impacts the world and the ways in which we can help the world. Now I have gained a profound respect for the world we live in. I used the knowledge I gained to participate in clubs/activities to better and slow down the deterioration of the environment. Whether it's painting our school community garden to assist with beautification or volunteering to chaperone a freshman field trip for a beach clean up. Not only has Marshall provided me with valuable knowledge, it has also shaped the effort I put into preserving our environment.
