The school is very safe and located in a very safe town. I have never experienced a lock down. There is no drug sweep, metal detectors, police officers, etc. because it is a very safe place and people believe it isn't very necessary. The nurses are not very good and I found myself avoiding going there even when I was sick. There was rarely bullying and I think most people felt safe.
There are lots of clubs and after school programs (all though the after school programs aren't very popular). The clubs are kind of care free and lose but people enjoy them and they are weekly events for most clubs. There is the option of band or chorus classes and the band program and teacher are excellent and a highlight for many of the kids who took band in middle school.
I was lucky enough to have really good teachers. There were some classes I didn't enjoy because they were boring or not good teachers. The school was set up by teams so 2-3 teams per grade which was fun because you could go on team field trips or do team activities, but also not as nice because it was possible you could be separated from your friends. People at the school were mostly all nice and there was very slim amounts of bullying. I would go back if I had to re-do middle school.
I believed that most of my teachers were very good (some of my favorites that I've had). They were knowledgable in their subjects and very friendly or likable. Most helped people when they struggled and my experience there was great. But other people who attended JFK with me really disliked it and were very glad to get out of there. Some people thought teachers were mean or didn't teach us anything. I do agree there were a few teachers who I disliked there classes or there teaching styles but my experience was overall positive.
