It's a great school where students are held at a high standard and are taught responsibility. The school is also a good school in terms of academics.
Being a teenager can be a very difficult and hard time. At John Burroughs, diversity is welcomed with supportive teachers, staff and students. The academic rigor prepares you well for High School and helps you to thrive.
It's the worst probably Virgil is better. Everyone doesn’t pay attention during class time. I remember once that my friend was sad because my teacher was making fun of him for not writing neatly. This school is the worst. I don’t recommend this school.
It’s the worst almost everyone bully each other plus the teacher always talks crap and the students always have fights. Literally almost everyone doesn’t attention during class time and dirty’s the school there like trash like candy wrappers, orange peels and other things. And smells bad.
I really love John Burroughs. The teachers are amazing, the campus is beautiful, and there are an endless amount of extracurriculars. Their arts programs are extremely good, and there are many performances throughout the year. There is a lot of school spirt, and it's not dorky or weird to be super into games and such. I recently preformed at my first ever homecoming game and I had so much fun! Even though it was freezing and I was wearing a short skirt, it was still one of the best times of my life. However, there are two main problems, the cafeteria food and link crew. The cafeteria food is bad, but that's expected, and link crew has no point. Other that those two things, Burroughs is the best place to be. GO Indians!
I’m a 6th grade student and LOVE it. The staff are so nice. They have practically complete control over bullying when it is student to student. I’m not so sure about staff bullying though. But still, I LOVE IT!!
I used to come here and they were teaching me, 3rd-grade classes, even though I was advanced and accelerated. They didn't want to move me at all until they found out that I was going to Virgil Middle School. I can infer that they just want to have as many intelligent kids for their reputation. one time a teacher was making fun of a kid because his project "was horrible" he was being so rude and mean that I felt like crying. It felt like he was saying it to me. The worse part was when he told the whole class to join in and make fun of him. The teacher is just teaching the kids that bullying is ok.
John Burroughs Middle School was a great and safe school. The school is College-Bound and focuses in guiding the students to advance in the courses.
I enjoy cheerleading and i am in csf which should help me
Some are much better than others. I do not get why some teacher are there if they don't want to be
John Burroughs Middle School is a school where memories are made. One of my favorite experiences include the night dance and Joining SRLA. As a graduating student you get rewarded with a night made for you to enjoy. I enjoyed this event because the students where able to choose the theme and it was an unforgettable night. I am glad that I joined SRLA at my school because the trainers are supportive and they made my completion of a marathon memorable. I would choose this school again because there is so much educational support and the school has a comforting environment.
The staff, especially the counselors care for most of the students. Teachers really give up their time for students like in the mornings, one hour before school started some would always show up to help students who needed the help.
Most of the times staff answers the calls when you are attempting to contact the school, but that is because they are either helping parents or are busy. However, they are low in staff in the administration office.
Although there are clubs here and there, some show interest, but after a while there are less members. The events, however, that occur during the school year get everyone motivated and spiritful.
There are a lots of students at our school and it makes the environment very diverse. With many traditions at the school as well, everyone comes together to support the event.
I personally never had severe emergencies that in fact I never went to the nurse. The food was edible just that we would like to consider it microwavable food.
There are many students that come from all over Los Angeles and it makes the school diverse. This creates for more opportunities for anyone and allows one to meet new people. There area around the school is really great and you can feel safe. I personally also had a great challenging education experience.
