The school itself is pretty good despite the negative reputation. The teachers are very nice and dependable, they will be genuinely happy to help if you need it. The school has many activities for the students to get involved in and different majors and programs for most students to enjoy.
johnbowne high school is one of the top 20 schools in new york and i recommend it for its hgih quality and unique programs. it offers stem, agriculutre, law, aca and jrotc. it is believed to have a excellent faculty and education for the stem program. the school also has different sports teams for girls and boys like basketball, soccer, cricket, table tennis. john bowne high schools also offers students a variety of clubs to choose from like students ambassador, robotics, dance, guidance etc.apart from clubs,it also has its own science olympiad team which has top 15 ranking in the science olympiad regionals almost every year. there are a lot of multiculured and different race students, so its really fun to learn about different cultures while also hanging out with people of same origin. there are also a lot of opportunities for hard working students to prove themselves in their favourite fields. to summarize the experience i would say its the perfect school for anyone to be successful.
When I first started school at John Bowne High School, I was very worried about the negative reviews that this school constantly had. But now graduating as a senior, I am very thankful for all the amazing experiences I had in this school. As part of the STEM program, I had excellent teachers and great resources. Although the school was not always clean with great facilities, the staff in the school are helpful and always willing to give guidance.
This school is very diverse which is a good thing. Many teachers here care about the students and their needs, others not so much. Tons of sports, language classes, and electives. The agriculture program here is great, very nice. The school has a farm!!
I’m currently enrolled in this high school. There are many great opportunities for students and what they can learn to find themselves, through the extra curriculum activities offered at this school
A lot of good teachers in this school, they're very patient with students. I'm an 11th-grade student from this high school, my teacher helps me a lot with my academics.
In John Bowne High School I am a senior in the agriculture program. The agriculture program has made me feel like I am part of a family. My experiences with my teacher have been life changing because they helped me be who I am today. The agriculture program has helped me meet some of my best friends and has given me the opportunity to have many experiences that I wouldn't have had if I hadn't gone to JBHS.
From what I have seen many people have had terrible experiences at John Bowne but I don't understand how because yes we have problems with some teachers and some students. However, is any school perfect and unproblematic? No it isn't. I was accepted and am currently a senior in the Agriculture Program and it has changed my life. I earned work experience from an internship the agriculture program helped me set up and learned about everything from how to care for plants to how to care for cattle and dogs or cats. There is also a huge room in the basement that we affectionately refer to as "the reptile room" because it is filled with everything from tortoises and turtles to different snakes and lizards all while being a classroom. The teachers in the agriculture program and most outside of the agriculture program are amazing and truly care about you more than your grades and will help you in any way they can. I love this school and even with the pandemic everyone has tried their best.
Great students and course. Some teachers could be a little bit better in their teaching. Food is mediocre.
The reason I like this school is because of the Agriculture program. The teachers are like family and the students are really nice. They prepare you for careers and colleges and expose you to many great opportunities.
I loved the overall system of John Bowne High School. I was new to the US education system, it really helped me to adjust with the environment and system.
My experience in John Bowne High school is that I majored in agriculture and in that I worked hands on with animals and plants daily. Many of the teachers are nice and can help you with any problem you have. Plus they have classes that you can choose that you are most interested in.
I’d like to see teachers and administrators actually listen to students about things involving school
It is what you make it. The agriculture program had a lot of opportunities to work with animals , and the Center for Writing program was very involved with arts and theatre which was nice. Lots of sports too.
great staff and facility, diverse programs for individuals to apply for. provide students resources for their future.
What I liked about this school was how kind a few of my teachers were. Some were very helpful and seemed to care an awful lot about us, students. I honestly wish more teachers were able to be more understanding and tried to care about the students well being. As well as being across a cemetery wasn't a very pleasant thing about the high school.
I recently graduated and i had enjoyed my time there, my teachers did not leave out any of the students and the faculty and was always cared about the students and helped push them toward their dreams. The sports staff are shown positive energy and the team members treat each other with respect. I was in the agriculture program and i learned a lot about plants and animals and ways able to obtain my first job from them.
