At the high school John A. Ferguson Senior High, there are numerous positive factors along with some negative characteristics as well. As a current senior within the International Baccalaureate Program, I will mention that the teachers over my 4 years actually care about students' success and ambitions. Every class is a new environment with each teachers personality, but the environment can be categorized as a positive one nearly every time. I have multiple friends and colleagues that have positive annotations about their own teachers and professors due to their helpful mindsets and extensive knowledge within their own subjects. Furthermore, the sanitation and food aspects of the school are superb and satisfying to an extent; I have never had complaints with materialistic/cleanliness parts of the facilities. To add on, the opportunities within the school are plentiful and real; Ferguson currently has a sport/activity/club for every individual that has a passion in anything!
John A. Ferguson Senior High School is a prestigious high school that pushes for both academic and extracurricular excellence. Teachers display a visible desire for each of their students to individually grow into academic scholars. While there was staff misconduct in the 2021-2022 school year, most negative events are due to the student body. For example, there have been incidents of sexual intercourse on campus along with some fights. These are egregious in any setting, but are present because of students' personal problems that can't necessarily be solved by the school itself. Overall, my experience at John A. Ferguson Senior High School has been an insightful one and has helped me to be more organized, determined, and college ready.
As an active student of John A. Ferguson I would say that this school is outstanding. It is very diverse in not only the students that attend it, but in the academics that are taught. The environment is feels very inviting especially after the other high schools that I have visited. There are multiple
clubs available to all students considering their likes and preferences which is something that I find very important. Additionally, the school is very involved with their students and making sure they stay on top of their academics. Additionally, they make sure that the student’s high school experience is as best as possible. I don’t believe that there are any changes that I would make about this school and I am very lucky to attend it.
