I liked that J.M. Weatherwax High School had friendly teachers and high standards. The teachers that I encountered had high expectations from their students and it was nice to see their encouragement.
Aberdeen High School is a great school. There are a lot of great teachers and classes to pick from. There is an awesome music program and really good sports.
I started here intimidated by everyone as a freshmen. I ended the year less afraid. I found friends, things im passionate about, and now im at the second half of my senior year and all I want to do is leave. The teachers on the other hand are pretty great overall. Most of the students are also pretty okay.
J.M. Weatherwax has a special atmosphere full of school spirit and determination. For the most part, the school promotes positivity, respect, and responsibility in any way that they can. The school has a club for just about every kind of student, and opportunities to prepare for their futures whether it be technical, college based, or working straight of High School. They have strayed from the "one size fits all" mentality and works to cater to every students needs.
J.M. Weatherwax, or as it is more commonly known, Aberdeen High School, is the jewel of our depressed logging town. Aberdeen is a 12 mile town with about 16,000 occupants and an overwhelming homeless population and major drug problem. With our school district having an estimated 80% of students on free or reduced lunch, I would say there is no debate we are poor. The main goal of our school is to get kids to graduate. A high school degree is a big deal around here and college is an unknown possibility to many families. However, faculty believes being on track is the maximum height of possible high school success. Our AP track was only saved due to a student petition and a passing score on one of those exams is as rare as a zebra crossing a residential street. While there is no way for us to compete with large or private schools, our grants have led to our beautiful campus and free laptops for all students for the entirety of the year. Like any school, it is what you make it.
I've enjoyed so many things about J.M. Weatherwax High School. For the most part, the teachers are amazing and actually care about each individual student in and outside of school related topics. The counselors are also very supportive about all topics about anything if a student needs help. The sports programs are also great (in my opinion) even though we don't win all of the time. The student body are very supportive of all sports teams and have incredible school wide spirit.
I love the academics here very challenging and they really prepare you for college level. The sports and every event is always so hype.
the administration here is the most ignorant and selfish people i know. no matter what they will always never believe you in what you say. NO MATTER WHAT THEY ARE ALWAYS RIGHT WHEN THEY HAVE NO PROOF TO SEE IF THEY ARE RIGHT OR NOT 🙄 bunch of bull crap
Great school and decent size for such a small town. Teacher do try to help you on their free time if you reach out. However, there's a lack of control or discipline in the school.
I loved Aberdeen High School. I was able to be a varsity athlete, a varsity marching band member and achieve a high GPA thanks to the great teachers.
There's lots too do after school and lots of extracurriculars. I didn't really participate in any but I know there's quite a bit.
I would choose this school again but maybe change a few aspects of it first. They need to work on their bullying techniques though.
Some of the best teachers I've had were there at AHS!
At this school there are seldom times that students are able to discuss their feelings about our learning environment. It seems that the school cares more for its athletes than the rest of its students.
I have gone to other high schools that put more value in their students, but this school does what it can.
I loved most of my teachers
I would not change my experience at this school
