J.L. Mann High Academy Reviews
Rating 3.78 out of 5 365 reviews
My experience at J.L. Mann was overall good. The principal that recently retired was a very respectable man and he ran the school well. My teachers were overall good at their job. I was able to connect with them on a different level because they desired to have a relationship with their students so that they could better utilize our short time together. The students are pretty diverse and you can definitely group people in a social setting. Aside from the actual homecoming game, spirit week can be fun and enjoyable. I just wish we had an actual homecoming dance. Other than that, Mann incorporates a balance of career opportunities, educational opportunities, and extracurricular opportunities to take advantage of. I like that.
I went to Mann all 4 years and I am glad I went there. I am about to be a freshman in college and feel like I was prepared perfectly for being on my own. If you ever need help like mentally or help in any other form all you need to do is ask and they will help, I can say MOST of the staff at Mann are extremely nice and within a couple of weeks will become your friend there are a few exceptions, some adults just take themselves too seriously never forming nice relationships with their students. They could put more money towards science and math and not towards football when we NEVER win, so more field trips and experiences for the students can happen instead of being stuck in the class 180 days for 4 years straight. Something I do wish was different was the representation of diversity. Especially within the students/student council. Because there is barely representation people who are not white tend to not take part in school activities, feeling left out. Spirit Week is also the BEST!
I would like to see a change with the food options, there was only 2 options one was papa johns pizza and the other was the regular reduced lunch option. I felt very unprepared for how hard college was compared to J.L. Mann the courses felt very easy, they need to prepare students better for coming into college. In the new tech building i felt somewhat unsafe due to the class rooms being made of mostly glass. but, the teachers were very nice as well as the administration staff. I loved being on the athletic teams, and overall I enjoyed my experience here
