I will be graduating from Booker T. at the end of 2022. I can say that my experience was pretty good. It's very white and the academics are pretty good. It is a lot of homework, and nearly everyone burns out. Be prepared for your sleep schedule to die forever. I have friends who went to bed before 9 every night in sixth grade and now go to bed around 4 simply because of the homework load. Choose French as a language because the teacher is the best. Still, it was a good school and I really have enjoyed my time here. I made some great friends and next to no enemies. The environment just feels nice. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what middle school you go to. They're all very similar and though there are minor differences in homework and whatnot, wherever you go, you'll get a decent education.
My son went to Booker T. then to Bronx Science. He got a fantastic education and is still in touch with some of his teachers. Dr. Elster, the Principal is probably the best Principal in the NYC system. It's middle school so it's socially challenging for all but the most popular kids. Still, my son made friends, got a great education that prepared him for success in HS and beyond.
I went to booker t and the kids were really toxic there, there wasn't bullying but no one wants to make new friends and if you are nice you are just seen as week and/or nerdy. some teachers are mean but if you are in seventh grade try to get ms. Johnson as a teacher she is super nice. She was probably the only thing good about that school. Be prepared to have at least an hour and a half of homework each night. Also whatever you do DONT PICK SPANISH as your language you want to learn the Spanish teacher is crazy and doesn't even know Spanish. If you somehow get Spanish god help your soul. We were given an essay to write ON Halloween like who does that!!!
