I’m in 8th Grade applying to High Schools right now. I have no regrets going here and would recommend it.
Pros:
- Great academics
- Great art and music programs
- Most teachers and staff are amazing
- Offers many great programs and after-schools
Cons:
- It depends on the class, but there are a good amount of tests
- The bathrooms are almost never clean
Other Mentions:
- I’ve had a few not so great teachers (especially this one teacher)
- Most students are nice or at least not rude/mean but as in all schools, there are some mean kids
- There is a decent sense of community
- It’s a pretty big school but I still felt that I knew all of my teachers pretty well
- It is decently diverse but honestly most students are white or Asian
- The school lunch food is like most middle schools I think, it’s not very good but I didn’t hate it
Overall, I love the school and suggest looking into it and considering putting it on your list. I hope this helped!

This school is a huge machine churning out cookie-cutter academics. There are some excellent teachers who really work to make the curriculum exciting and engage the students. Others are not so great. The curriculum is pretty rigid and not much room for educators to be creative. On the plus side, kids have lots of choices for afterschool clubs and are likely to find peers with similar interests due to the size of the school. There are robust sports, drama, visual arts and music programs. All students take Regents Algebra and Living Environment in 8th grade.
The extracurriculars were better than other schools especially in sports since it was such a large school, so if your a small school kid this would not be right for you. The school has two sections AP and SP although they share the same rooms they are in separate classes, Because of this the school is very diverse, you can move up and done the ladder if you do good or bad. The only problem is since they are combined and there are so many students the bathrooms can deteriorate very quickly and you can have some kids skipping classes while others get into honor roll every year. For the teachers you get, you can get very lucky or not. Foreign languages or not that rigorous, but subjects like music and Drama are. If you're interested in science this is not the school for you, there is only one lab for the entire 1,200 kids and you get to use it around twice a year but again you may end up getting a good teacher that can do experiments in the classroom. That's basically all there is to know
