Jesuit High School Reviews

Jesuit offers a very good academic and spiritual opportunity, though it has focused its curriculum mostly on students seeking the top 1% of universities. Their abilities to "truly" tailor academic programs for each student is severely limited by an over-emphasis on Honors & AP courses. Their resident priest & theology department are outstanding, but their limited teaching verses instructing abilities in math & science hurts more students than helps them.

Jesuit is a well funded and highly motivated institution. I like that remodeling and campus improvements are being made. However, I would truly like to see more of that money go towards providing less fortunate children with more scholarship money. I would also like to see a more accepting and diverse culture be introduced to Jesuit. Personally, as a Hispanic student I believe it is due to the lack of diversity that at some times Jesuit can portray a less than accepting attitude towards students of different ethnicity and race. In order to change this I would love to see Jesuit put some of its funding not only towards financial aid, but also some kind of transportation for those families who demonstrate an inability to easily bring their child to and/or from school.
Jesuit High School has started to mold me in to the man I will one day be. I came in as a 14 year old who had gotten by without studying for a long time. When I arrived at JHS, I knew changes were coming for me. I was challenged academically. All teachers know their students and are available for them. The athletic program is excellent. I play varsity baseball, but no matter what sport you play, we all come out to support each other. I have grown in my faith as well. We are expected to give of ourselves and be mindful of the needs of others. I have a brotherhood for life. Sending me to Jesuit is the best thing my parents have ever done for me and I hope one day to carry on the Tiger tradition with my own son. Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam.
