Jerabek Elementary School Reviews
Rating 4.2 out of 5 5 reviews
The school is held together by a few good teachers and a force of involved parents. Parents fill in the academic gaps with extracurricular academics and tutoring. The administration is a nightmare. She is hostile to teachers and parents that are not within in her small clique of 2-3. She encourages a quarterly Kindness Week campaign that really just a way to ignore the serious flaws in her leadership. There is a huge problem in grade 5, where a rotational teaching arrangement insures that all students get the same poor math and science experience. The school is relatively strong in language arts.
Great teachers, best student achievement n our community, highly involved parent foundation who has funded and supported professional development which has made a big difference in our academic achievement the past three years. More parent volunteers then I have ever seen at other schools embraced by the entire staff. Big difference I see is that the parent foundation is not just planning fun activities like most PTAs, we are really investing in our teachers so they can be the best teachers around with the best training.
My children are very happy at Jerabek. We came back after many years of changes in administration and a small group of parents who tore apart our school. Now with consistent, strong, leadership our teachers are getting top training, our student scores have risen and are the highest in our community - second in our district. Parent foundation extremely strong and supportive. So many parent volunteers daily. thanks for the focus on students!
This school is a hidden gem. Teachers are excellent and the campus is well kept. This school has one of the highest involved parent groups we have ever seen and their collective efforts support a lot of activities at school. Test scores are the highest in the area and surpass most of the high ranking Poway School. Finally with consistency in leadership and the small group of power hungry parents who kept our school in turmoil are not allowed to interfere in the schools mission. Since the change in administration our school scores have risen and the larger group of us parents are VERY happy.
Ranked a top school in San Diego County on overall CAASPP scores for all students 3-5, extensive enrichment programs including music and art that develop whole child. Experienced staff and administration, highly involved and contributing parent community. School culture completely focused on students.
