I have enjoyed being a student at JHS. I think the teachers and administration have prepared me well for college.
Jemison High School is a great school. I enjoy the teachers and all the hard work they do. What I would change is an upgrade to the school building.
The thing I like most about Jemison High School is knowing that all the teachers put all their time and effort into teaching us that way we can prepare for the future! The one thing that I would like to see change is, if a child refuses to do their work and don't want to turn it in, then they shouldn't have the opportunity to make it up weeks later and be given full credit for it.
I like how Jemison High School treats everyone fairly. I would love to see the school get bigger. The halls everyday are always cramped.
Needs a new building. New restroom doors. New textbooks. The halls are to crowded. The lighting is terrible. Has an okay lunchroom. Food is terrible though. Rats and cockroaches inhabit the building. Lockers suck.
I personally love my school but I feel like there could be changes done involving the faculty and classes. I feel that new faculty would benefit the school as a whole and as well as offering different, more diverse classes, because the classes provided are very basic and boring.
As an alum of Jemison High Class of 2016, my High School experience was very average. On the academic side of things it was fairly decent as there were actually good teachers but at times didn't do enough to prepare us for college. Socially there was plenty to do sports or clubs you name it, but one thing we could all agree on was the school's resources weren't the best the school was built in the 60s so its right around the time for a new one. There were ups and downs but at the end of the day it would be alright
I’m a senior at Jemison High School. My school just got upgraded about two weeks ago. I think good, but not very good!! We still have some improvements to do, but we will improve them together!! As a student my responsibility is to keep it clean and take pride in my school!! Go panthers!!!
Love my school! I hate that I'll be graduating soon! The only thing I wish they would change is having more college preparatory classes available!
I began and ended my academics at all Jemison Schools. I played sports and graduated in the top 20 of my senior class. All I can say is "Go Panthers!"
My experience with Jemison High School has been average to say the least. I consider the academics poor because Jemison offers little to no AP classes. I have compared to my high school experience to other friends of mine and I feel as if my high school does not care as much about our success in college. They do not prepare their students for college as well. I do appreciate the clubs Jemison High Schools offers, but there is still room for them to improve. The teachers and staff are great for the most part, but there are a handful of teachers who do not care about their student's successes. Jemison High School is not a terrible school. I just would like to see my school better itself for the future.
My experience with Jemison High School wasn't great, but was pretty average for a public Alabama school. I would like to see a change not only Jemison High School, but all public Alabama schools. We need enough books for all students (updated books). We need classes to help find scholarships for colleges or classes to help you get ready for the real world. We need classes that help you get a job after high school. We need teachers that actually care about your success and well-being. I can honestly say I'm terrified to start college classes, which is not a feeling I should have leaving high school.
Student for four years, overall great school. Opportunities to all that get involved and pay attention to details. You always need to inquire and stay on top of events but overall excellent opportunity to do the best you can.
Teachers are helpful but the resources and funding are below average. The school superintendent has no interest in promoting a college education because he doesn't have one. The local trade school is his claim to fame.
I am a Jemison High School alumni, and attended there since kindergarten. I love Jemison High School and do not see myself attending anywhere else but there. The staff is great and is really involved in making sure that you understand the material very well. Jemison High School is a school full of diversity. Even though the staff is great at their profession, I do believe the school lacks the resources students need.
After graduation in 2014 I realized that I probably could have been easily more prepared in certain areas of study. Subjects like math and science I believe needed to be more challenging in order to test the capabilities that Alumni would want to see from a recent graduate in order to receive a job. I understand college is meant to prepare us for the "real world" but after being in college for 3 years now, I just feel like I could've had a bit more a challenge at Jemison High School. As far as the teachers and diversity goes, I think the teachers know what they're teaching but they should definitely encourage themselves to learn more about ways to teach their students. It was mainly by lecture and not group work and assignments that require brain-rattling questions.
The teachers are very passionate about helping every student succeed. Our principal enjoys her job, and does everything in her power to make our school the best it can be.
