There are many teachers that always look out for the students. However, there are teachers in every department who do not care about whether or not the students are learning. As a student enrolled in Honors, AP, and Dual Enrollment courses, I have noticed that the school prioritizes the students who do not meet the standard rather than those who achieve beyond it. I have had to push to be able to be enrolled in courses that are above my current grade level. With the advent of Dual Enrollment through the local colleges, this challenge has become easier. There is a widespread lazy attitude among the students, and most are not motivated to learn. Those who are are criticized by their peers and therefore become unmotivated.
The organizations at this school are very good. The band program is phenomenal. The theatre troupe is very talented and has won multiple state awards for their program. The Science National Honors Society is one of the most active clubs at the school.

Most of the teachers were good, but there were those select few who could not do their job properly. The dress code is a problem, and many teachers do not enforce it, but some do. The way lunch operates is okay, but there is only one bathroom open during lunch for the 1,400 or more kids that attend. It also seems that you can never get an appointment with the guidance counselors, or they never respond to something. The communication is very poor throughout the entire high school.
My past years at Jefferson High School were enjoyable and also shaped me into the person I am today. The sports, history, and english department were an amazing resource and prepared me the most for college. Some of the areas for improvement in the school could be used in the art department. Not a lot of money was provided for adequate supplies. I would change the school by adding better facilities and supplies to the art program.
