Jefferson High School is not for everyone. If you aren't a driven student, you might find it too easy to fall behind and struggle academically. The teachers are very caring and want students to learn and succeed. However, many of the teachers don't have control over the classroom, and students talk, play on their phones, throw things, or sleep during class. There is the opportunity to take classes for free at Portland Community College, and the Cascade campus is conveniently located across the street. It is possible to graduate from Jefferson with an Associate's Degree, though I only know of one student who's done that. The dance team at Jefferson is well known, and they travel inside and outside the US. There is a football, rugby, basketball, softball, and soccer team and at one point and maybe currently an ultimate frisbee team. There are a handful of fights and a lot of drama at Jefferson, but it can be easy to avoid.

Jefferson gave me the opportunity to pursue a career in 3D art, and get college credits through its middle college program. All the teachers genuinely care and reach out to there students, and the students are all really nice and open to everyone. Our school being a majority black school was never properly cared for, and because of that our water fountains had high levels of lead. Now all the water fountains are closed and students don’t have easy access to water, a thing that all students should have.
I like the diversity the school had, the activities, the many programs, and history. The times spent through the halls of Jefferson was a good experience for me. I started out as a freshman and noticed a good change in me every year. I made it my goal to make every year my best year leading down to graduation. I loved my freshman year, because I was amazed by the diversity and I got to walk the halls with my third eldest brother. I also was in the dance classes all three years, which was a fun learning experience. The dance classes helped me meet new people and discover another side of me. Each year my dancing improved and my relationship strengthened with my peers. My last year I signed up for Rose Festival and made it to the panel and had the opportunity to speak in front of the whole school, that too was another great experience. Other than what I have mentioned; I loved the school dances, football and basketball games, and other classtime.
