My experience at Jefferson High school is amazing, everything about it is good, We have a dance program which is also amazing. So if you like to dance I would say go to Jefferson High school. At Jefferson, we also have sports and also a Biotech program. Like any other school, we have girls volleyball, boys football, boy and girl soccer, and baseball. The Biotech program is a program, that works with science, when I was in the program we went to middle schools in Portland and we taught 6-8 grades about science and how to build things. We have field trips to OHSU (Oregon Health & Science University) and we work with chemicals. Also at Jefferson, we have a middle college and in the middle college program we take PCC (Portland Community College) classes and we are required to take classes from PCC to graduate so basically you would have college credits when you graduate college. We have PCC classes because we are right by one of the PCC locations.
I went to Jefferson for all four years of high school. I learned a lot throughout my time and made a lot of good friends. My teachers were great and knew exactly what they were doing nine out of ten times. The admistration there is a big joke. They are unprepared, unhelpful, and inaccessible. It's nearly impossible to meet with them and actually get help with an issue only they can resolve. When you are finally able to meet with them you are denied the help you need. This happened multiple times to many people I knew throughout high school. The teachers and students are great, where the school falls short is in its administration.
I love the diversity and community that comes with Jefferson. In our class we have meaningful conversations that involve everyone and everything it helps share the views of everyone and it builds a stronger community. I love the teachers because they actually enjoy teaching, and I can trust them. This makes for a better learning environment when I feel respected as a student and as a person. As a senior I am very ready for college I have so many resources and the teachers have helped me for years preparing me for life after college.
