I love the diversity and community that comes with Jefferson. In our class we have meaningful conversations that involve everyone and everything it helps share the views of everyone and it builds a stronger community. I love the teachers because they actually enjoy teaching, and I can trust them. This makes for a better learning environment when I feel respected as a student and as a person. As a senior I am very ready for college I have so many resources and the teachers have helped me for years preparing me for life after college.

Jefferson High School is not for everyone. If you aren't a driven student, you might find it too easy to fall behind and struggle academically. The teachers are very caring and want students to learn and succeed. However, many of the teachers don't have control over the classroom, and students talk, play on their phones, throw things, or sleep during class. There is the opportunity to take classes for free at Portland Community College, and the Cascade campus is conveniently located across the street. It is possible to graduate from Jefferson with an Associate's Degree, though I only know of one student who's done that. The dance team at Jefferson is well known, and they travel inside and outside the US. There is a football, rugby, basketball, softball, and soccer team and at one point and maybe currently an ultimate frisbee team. There are a handful of fights and a lot of drama at Jefferson, but it can be easy to avoid.
Because Jefferson is a middle college High school we are given the opportunity to take college classes during high school. This is unlike any other Portland Public School and it really makes Jefferson Unique and cool. Not only do we have the middle college but we also have several other programs students can get involved in like Trio, BSU, Bio Tech. The students as well as the staff at Jefferson are driven to succeed in and out the classroom. The Mock trial team has gone to state 2 years in a row as well as our Men's Basketball team going to state 3 years in a row, we also have several wrestlers who have made it to state every year in addition we have a state finisher in women's swimming. As well as athletically many for our student are on honor role and are doing great things in the community.
