I did independent studies at J. E. Young my senior year. The classroom environment at my old school wasn't working for me and I was failing classes, not understanding lectures, and fell behind on credits. When I went to J. E. Young I started to do better academically and my self confidence was growing. They have a comfortable small school with friendly teachers. The tutoring helped me understand more of the work and the take-home packets helped get my credits up. They also had a program called Advanced To College (ATC) that I took the chance to do. In the program we took a few classes at Fresno City College to get college credits while in high school. I am a proud graduate of J. E. Young Academic Center.

The teachers are always there for you no matter what it is that you need. The dress code was strictly enforced regardless of the fact it was home studies. Attendance was great and so is the graduation turn out. If there is any problems or concerns within the school or at home the teachers are always there to listen and help where they can.
Before attending this high school I would always skip class. After attending this high school and going into college I have noticed my ambition is higher as well as my grades. I do wish however they had guidance counselors to help the transition into college.
