J.C. Ellis Elementary School Reviews
Rating 3.75 out of 5 4 reviews
I have been at this school since second grade and now it’s my last year here 8 grade. The majority of the teachers are nice, a few are amazing. The rest seem to be there because they just want money and a stable job. The sports are pretty bad. There are not many clubs to join or students to get involved in.. The immersion programs are very excellent for elementary, middle school is ok and not that great. There is only one 8th grade honors class. Adminstration can be very indesicive about rules. Lunch was bad, somedays were very good though. There is a lot of parent involvement. It’s ok and the best public school you’re gonna get unless you go to a private school. This school is my childhood because I grew up with the same students, and teachers have seen us grow up. I believe that when we get to high school it will be hard because we are very sheltered from real life problems.
My daughter enjoys the French class! All her teachers have been wonderful. The aftercare program is amazing as well.
JC Ellis is an ok school for academics, and it is nice that they have both French and Spanish immersion options.. We also love their diversity. However, it's a terrible school to receive a full education. There is no art, music, band, choir, or any additional activities for the elementary-aged children. They have no gymnasium and never participate in performances of any kind. They get way too much homework, no recess, and don't have field trips. This school is all work and no play, but science and social studies are virtually nonexistent. They are too worried about getting those reading and math scores up for the standardized tests. I think the only reason they even have the immersion program is to attract smarter kids from outside their district. Unfortunately for them, several of the good families with smart children are leaving for better schools for the reasons I listed above. Our kids are incredibly bored and dread going to school.
