The experience at James W. Mitchell High School is very unique. The students spread kindness and diversity to all around. The teachers teach their subjects vividly and in a variety of ways, such as through notes, videos, and real-world simulations. Unfortunately there aren’t many clubs to participate in and a multitude of assessments. However, everyone works together and gets through it with excellence!
During my time at J.W. Mitchell High School, I enjoyed all the school had to offer. From sports to clubs, it was easy to get involved. I joined the Academy for the Medical Arts in freshman year and through it was able to get my CNA license. However, I would like to see them improve the music and arts program. I joined the orchestra the second year it was created and it was severely underdeveloped. The school does not have an auditorium or a drama program/ club. Aside from that, I’ve met many amazing teachers and people at this school!
What I like about my high school is that it offers many activities for the students to become engaged in. They offer many clubs such as fishing, debate, and a LGBTQ club to include every student! They have pep rally’s to join all the students together. What I dislike about the school is that when you are having an issue, it is very hard to communicate that issue and receive an appropriate response back. For example, needing a schedule change gives unnecessary stress since the communication is difficult.
