What I like about James Island Charter High School is that everyone is treated the same. There are no days where I feel that others are being treated differently. Teachers are very good at making everyone feel at home and creating a fun learning environment. All of my teachers from over the years were as nice as they could be and would do anything to help you learn the concept that they were teaching. They prepared me to take on college and never look back. The school is very safe because we have gates all around the school, they won't let anyone in without an ID. In the morning there is usually a random sample survey of people getting searched. I have been searched myself and they do a good job. We have very good facilities for our sports teams. They are actually building a new gym. Along with the gym they are building a new CTE wing. Overall, I would say my school is one of the best out there.

Though many teachers re not particularly passionate about their jobs, the few that genuinely care about their students' success make learning worthwhile. It is a beautiful school located on a beautiful island. The disciplinary guidelines can be improved as well as the overall cleanliness of the school. The school provides great AP and IB programs, however, your guidance counselor may not get you the classes you request.
My school experience at James Island Charter has been interesting. It made what I want to do with my future very clear to me. Starting freshman year I had no clue what I was getting myself into, but this school grew me to be a very independent person. I met a lot of friends through JICHS. The classes that I take challenge me, but in a good way. I am an AP, Honors, and Dual enrollment student. All of these programs are great. For the most part, the teachers are very good and friendly. From my freshman to my senior year, many security measures have been put in place including gates, random searches, loss of cell signal, dog searches, among other things. One thing that this school is terrible at is preparing us for the future whether it be college or just life after high school. The students get little to no information regarding to scholarships or anything college related.
