So far I like attending JBHS. I love the class options and the teachers are great. I would recommend joining a sport or club because you can make great friends and they become your family. There is a great music & art program, as well as access to many resources. Diversity is lacking, but that is to be expected in a rural area. Lots of parents are involved and there are lots of opportunities for parents to get involved, such as helping out with sporting events. JBHS has great technology, especially for a rural area. At JBHS there is an abundance of opportunities to get involved, with new ones popping up regularly. An example of this is the school's newly formed bocci ball team, created to give special education students the opportunity to play a sport with other students. Overall I think that James Buchanan High School is a good school with lots of opportunities and great values.
It was a great 4 years. I would not be the person I am without it. Growing up, you always have an idea about what your high school experience will be and I think I had the perfect experience. I grew more inside of that building than I did anywhere else. I learned life skills, met people I will remember forever, and made memories that will last a lifetime. My school was small, but I think that’s what made it so amazing. Everyone knew everyone and we all looked out for each other. High school is a scary place where you go from being a child to an adult in 4 years. The teachers try their best to prepare you for life outside of here. I think they did all they could for me. I cant think of a single person there who didn’t want us to succeed. I was lucky in going to a school that taught me so much. Not just in my education but in my life as well. The lessons I learned there will be lessons I pass on to everyone I meet. James Buchanan High School prepared me for life.
I felt like I was well educated in most of my classes and band and journalism were probably my favorite classes to take because I knew the teachers cared about me and the students in the class created a family. I feel like the school didn't always handle situation in a great way. It wasn't the administration in anyway, but a couple of things happened during the school year that couldn't really be prevented and it didn't make my high school experience as good as I thought it could have been. For example our band over-nighter got canceled because of an issue that happened. There was just a few disappointments because things that we were looking forward to got canceled. Other than that I think my high school experience was pretty good and I am thankful for the friendships I built and for the many teachers who cared and were always there for you.
