Jackson Academy offers a wide variety of opportunities for its students. There is a wide variety of boys/girls sports that are very successful at the state level, including a D1 producing girls VB team. JA also offers strong arts programs such as show choir, band, theatre, and color guard. Unlike any other MS school, JA offers a sports broadcasting program comparable to SEC sports productions.
JA's history and English departments are the strongest academic aspects of the school. The maths and science departments are good, but nothing exceptional. All in all, the school has something for everyone, whether it be challenging academics, high-performing sports, or more creative pursuits.

I love the environment and the faculty. I’ve met some of my lifelong friends and I’m forever thankful for the academic opportunities that Jackson Academy has given me. However, the main thing that needs fixing is the parking. The school parking is a disaster on event parking days, especially for seniors. Also, the food could be improved, along with the drink and snack machines as they don’t work often.
Jackson Academy is without a doubt the number one school in Jackson, MS. Jackson Academy focuses on it students ability to succeed and prioritizes this over even a students speed at taking in information. They do whatever they can to insure that each student is showing their full potential as they grow closer to a college level. Because much of the school is student led with guidance of proctors and teachers, there are no real issues in the school because the students have implemented the majority of decisions. It is also a great school because they distribute your own device specifically for you that you may take home to enjoy and do your homework on. Currently every high school student is given an IPad or computer in order for them to excel technologically and academically
