Jack Britt High School Reviews
Rating 3.74 out of 5 715 reviews
JBHS is very supportive - the teachers, counselors, and administrators all work hard to connect students to what they need, but the student needs to reach out first. It is a large school, thirty students in a class is not surprising, especially in a standard class. There are some teachers that are given a wide breadth, but the majority are either neutral towards students or love teaching. The classes themselves are a mix of interesting, have to self-study, or both. Most classes have transferred work to an online setting, but some require the use of textbooks that are issued to you. There are eight student bathrooms on each floor (two to a hall, one for male, the other female) and there are two floors. However, at least one bathroom is always out of commission because of stunts pulled by students. The water fountains used to taste like it chlorine dumped in it, but newer fountains have been installed for some halls. There are fights that happen sporadically, but they are taken care of.
Jack Britt High School offers a multitude of advanced classes, which is extremely stellar. In addition, it has a lot of amazing teachers who are willing to work past the school day in order to help their students. However, the downside is that the class sizes are very large and there tends to be not a lot of one-on-one teacher-student interaction. In addition, some of the classes offered are for a year-long schedule rather than a semester schedule, so they are very fast-paced and challenging. In addition, there are so many students in the building that the counselors are over-worked and it is sometimes hard to meet with them or go to them for help.
I enjoyed the way there was an opportunity for each student that currently is or has previously attended Jack Britt. The atmosphere had remained positive (despite the drama that surrounded every once in awhile) and allowed me to strive to my ability. Although, if noticed, I did not say full ability. The reason behind that is for the fact that we often had absent teachers or teachers that preferred with strictly online learned instead of providing the assistance for those who were only hands on, or active listeners. Other than that, the high school experience with Jack Britt was enjoyable and quite educational.
