I'm a Sophomore here. Compared to other local schools, iSTEM is certainly the most unique.
When I first enrolled (2020) they were a pretty small school and only had grades 9-12. Since then they have expanded to offer grades from 7-12 but still feel like a small close-knit community.
Because of their "mastery system," students who aren't well suited for traditional education are able to succeed at iSTEM. The teachers here go above and beyond to support students who are struggling while still contributing to the advanced offerings of iSTEM.
iSTEM has partnerships with Auburn Career Center and Lakeland Community College which allow students to gain technical skills and/or get a head start on college all while still in high school. It currently doesn't have many business partnerships but over the next few years, I'll be working on that.
It's a great school if you feel like an outcast, want a small community or want to pursue college/technical education early.

I loved iStem GHS especially freshman year before the pandemic hit when I was really able to hang out with all my friends I'd made there. The school is also very promotive of further education and most students attend auburn or take CCP classes at Lakeland after their sophomore year. Unfortunately, that does mean that there isn't a lot of connection after sophomore year as most students won't have any classes at iStem so you have to coordinate with your friends what classes you will take if you want to be in the same classes. Finally, the thing I would like to see changed most is for more sports and music-related options to be offered. During my freshman and sophomore years, the only sports club that existed was for spikeball (which is a really fun game if you haven't played it) and there was no music class offered at the school meaning no band or choir, though I do believe there was some kind of music club you could join.
The teachers were amazing, super helpful and all had an open door policy! This school is challenging but when you are surrounded by others with the same goal, it makes it easier to focus and want to work hard!
