Island School Reviews
Rating 3.57 out of 5 77 reviews
Island School has been undergoing change over the past 5-6 years. Although the leadership has changed several times, overall the educational experience remains high. Unfortunately the school runs on a pretty thin margin and they don't have much extra money for better salaries, more teachers, etc. With that said, they have just completed a new building for the high school and have made other improvements to the campus. Although teachers can be hard to retain on Kauai, they have teachers in several key positions that keep up the standards. So despite its issues, Island School is the best school on the island, especially for High School.
Island school is a college-prep school that gives students all the resources they need to not only get into their preferred colleges, but strive for achievement in their academics. Although Island school offers the highest education courses island-wide, it is only a fraction of what the school has to offer. It gives students a sense of belonging as students are able to connect with likewise peers. Island School allows students to participate in extracurricular activities such as theatre, arts, music, technology and sports. This School is more of a family and community than a standard high school.
Island School is definitely your best choice for a private school on Kauai. The teachers are dedicated and friendly; it’s a pretty chill place for the students, and there’s definitely the ability to get a good education there.
