This was terrible, no one comes here willingly unless they had friends or people who make it bearable, this is a living hell and ai would never go here again if I had the option
The Walter Crowley Intermediete School is not a school you would apply for. It is only a school you would go to if you are zoned to do so. If you are in fact going here, this school’s academics aren’t not sufficient for applying to good high schools. I’ve heard that a lot of students here go to Stuyvesant but out of 2000 students, there was bound to be students who got accepted. There are good programs that you can take alongside going to Walter Crowley, but going to this school is not enough. The school is very diverse, as it sits right in Elmhurst, Queens. There are good and bad teachers. The good are usually 7/10 and the bad are 4/10. I don’t feel ready for college or high school. I’m not sure about safety since my schoolmates can be scary. The food is normal public school food. Parents are more involved in school matters than students, which I find a bit confusing. Both voices of the student and parent should be heard, not only one. It’s really an “eh” school.
Just graduated here and academics are average. Teachers don't know how to control class clowns. Little information was given on highschool. Deans favorites are the trouble makers and they often don't even get in trouble at all. People vape at lunch and use their phones when not suppose to and ive seen many kids in the hallways using their phones also they use phones for cheating on exams many times. Busy hallways. Teachers expect students to be on time after lunch but we have to run up the stairs to get to class since 8th grade classes are on the 4th floor and the cafeteria is on the 1st floor. Also not much diversity usually a class is full of Hispanics or full of Asians hardly any middle ground also Spanish teachers just teach the same things and we mostly just watch movies
My son just graduated from Is 5 and we are both so sad to see leave we are eternally grateful for all the help and support they gave my Gio
It was meh, but I mean it could do better. Personally, I hope that we could take regents examinations in the seventh grade, and posses some of the privileges the 8th graders possess. They should also be more strict with high-school readiness, such as specialized high schools, and insure a good amount of students get in. They can also improve on clubs, sports, and etc. Other than that, the school isn't too bad.
IS 5 is a great school. They really focus on the students education. Teachers meet with students during their free period and help them. They have many extra curricular activities. They ahh school plays and concerts. yoga classes, soccer/basketball team. academic assistance and an after school program. the school is very clean, the custodians are always cleaning. the school is very safe they have a very good security guard team.
It's a good school with caring teachers and lots of extracurricular activities. It would be nice if there was more resources for high schoool admission tests such as the specialized high school exam.
