Great teachers who are caring and understanding but due note that some will get on your nerves as some like to exaggerate things a lot. Food here is a gamble as with any other New York school, unless your in a expensive private school it's either gonna be semi edible, going to make you sick, or pretty decent and rarely the latter. Homework here is very little from my experience, unless you are in a honors class. Trips happen once every 25-40 days and are usually movie trips or trips to museums, arcades, bowling alleys or if your a senior, a outdoor BBQ where you can spend a whole 5 hours in the hot sun with your friends, eating actually decent food and chugging lemonade. Believe me when you get to 8th grade here it's worth it. And also if you ever get Ms. Hansen as your ELA teacher, your set for the year. I promise you she will be the best teacher in this school you ever meet. That's all about this school I remember, good luck if your going here!
its good but the wifi is really bad and its a very old building it also has bad protection for example in a lock down the windows cant be covered the school is also very crowded because of wast west i alos think that gym time could be extended and also have more activities
Bullying
Bad communication teachers and parents
Olot of the time students are in the playground and they are supposed to be at classroom academic levels poor

My experience as a student for three years at I.S. 237 was very good. I would recommend this school to anyone looking for a school in this area. I think that it's a clean school, the people are nice and the classes are good. I really like that the school has a lot of art classes for you to choose and I had a lot of fun in the one that I chose, which was strings class. This school is a great choice to send your children to and it even has a park right across the school.
My experience at IS237 was very excellent. The Sp/Regents classes really helps you prepare for high school. A good portion of teachers there put in a tremendous amount of effort into lesson planning.
Overall, it was a good experience in I.S. 237, I had many friends there and all of my teachers were really nice and taught pretty well.
The school was a very active and joyous place. The only problem is the small hallways and shared building with East-West High School.
The teachers are generally very engaging. The teachers can control the class and is consistent with grading.
The school has fire drill practices and soft lock down drill practices. The security is well and I feel mostly safe throughout the school day.
At first I was stuck between whether I should go to jhs189 and is237, although it was last minute decision, I did not regret it and if I could choose this school again I would do it all over again. It was an amazing three years.
Teachers are good and school itself is pretty clean. If you're a good or average student you should be fine. I had an amazing three years and made several good friends
There is only one guidance counselor for every student in the building.
I like how there were artistic names for each sections of the school. The "sp" class was able to take high school regents.
Although, most of the students usually socialize about 18+ topics, there are many intelligent students.
The teachers are friendly and often give engaging lessons.
There are no extracurricular activities or opportunities at this school.
The school has the common safety safety system and the school nurse can help with small injuries such as cuts.
