I.S.230 is a great school academically. The AP classes are at a very high level (in 8th grade AP you are taught 9-10th grade level curriculum) and the teachers are very experienced. I will say though the students kind of bring the school down. There are A LOT of smart kids who are in AP classes at IS230, but the other students are mostly rowdy and annoying. Therefore, I think it's important to work your hardest at IS230 from the very beginning so you can get into AP class and be surrounded with kids who are more respectful and truly want to succeed. In addition, I think the teachers really bring this school up. They form bonds with the students and the students feel really comfortable in class. The annex building (for 6th graders) is really nice. There's new desks and chairs, and it's really bright and clean and modern. The main building is good but could be cleaner. The gym and classrooms are big. Overall the school's good if you work hard and have good friends
Is230 is an a excellent school designed to help students prepare for high school. By providing students with advanced classes, students are able to partake in high school level courses not only helping them earn high school credits but also giving them a head start. This also gives students the opportunity to take more college level AP courses in high school saving them a lot of money in the long run.
This school is something I never want to experience again. But I'll admit, It's an experience I am grateful for. It taught me so many things (socially) that it basically served as a stepping stone for when I got to high school. The students are definitely what makes this school unique. And I haven't met anyone like them in high school (thankfully).
