We are one community that strives to improve itself. I have had wonderful experiences at my school, where I have developed many relationships with the teachers that help us become college-ready through campus visits and scholarship research. We all celebrate it together, but unfortunately we do not have much because of the schools' financial position. The administrations struggles to conduct events, host a wide range of clubs or clubs activities, and do not have funds to provide for college campus tours. The majority of our funding does come from the athletics department, primarily football, but it does not cover all of the equipment required for our education, such as the lack of equipment in the science departments for labs and teaching, as well as the lack of computers in the technology departments for students to use. Many teachers pay for expensive, necessary items out of their own budgets, and many of them have more than 100 students. I Loe to see my community strive for great.
I really liked the teachers there. They were very helpful in helping me prepare for the real world and college. The main problem was how old the building was and how poorly they handled the broken systems in it. Some days it was too hot and some days during the winter there was no heat at all. The school prioritizes sports over academics a lot. There aren't enough security guards to handle the kids who skip class so it's usually loud in the hallways. But with the help of my teachers, it wasn't a terrible experience and I still got to learn.
So far Irvington High School has been a good school for me personally. Even tho we don't have all of the teachers, so far throughout my 3 years of high school i have had no vacancy other than this year but we do have co-teachers who give us work. This year our principal is trying to bring in more teachers so no student will have vacancy.
