Irving High School offers a lot of AP classes, a majority of which have really enthusiastic teachers eager to teach their subject. Additionally, Irving High School's parent district, Irving ISD, pays for each and every student's AP test, so there isn't any financial burden on an individual if they wish to. The administration is also always ready to help the students with any issue a student can have. Something to keep in mind though is that the school does only serve 3 lunches, each about 30 minutes long, which leads to some students not being able to find seating or lunch at all. Overall, this school is a great fit for academics and administrative involvement, but the situation with the school cafeteria could use some remediation.
First impressions surely affected how I viewed this old building. The first day I stepped foot in here, I absolutely dreaded everything about this ragged place. However, it is the people inside who can make a school so outdated, an enjoyable, up to date environment. Within my first months of High School, I dreaded my abilities to talk to others. I wondered how I could make use of this place, other than obtaining my education. Which, might I add, was and has never been a struggle behind these walls. It was until I took it upon myself to try out for the Dance team. Time, many pitiful conversation starters, plenty of awkward silences later, Irving High School was able to teach me a lesson that'll last me a lifetime. I cannot paint an entirely different person in hopes that people will accept me for who I am. The people at this school are of majority Hispanic descent. Me and my people aren't only just similar in cultural practices, but we happen to accept each other's real colors.
