If you're looking for a school that has a lot of school spirit and a place to experience football season then you're looking at IHS. We have pep rallies that gets everyone excited for the football games on Friday. Cheer, ASB, and student forum help out with creating and setting up the decorations (posters, balloons, IHS sign, lights) around the stadium. We always do chants to encourage the football team, sometimes we throw colored powder in the air (these stain your white shoes so beware), have balloons to just wave around or you can transform it into a hat/animal!
Being new to the United States and attending Irvine High School as a senior was a life-changing event for me. I was lucky to come across a supportive community of instructors and students who helped me transfer despite the language and cultural difficulties. The best part of my experience was Irvine High School's welcoming environment, where enthusiastic teachers provided outstanding assistance and students welcomed me into their social circles. However, I believe that more resources should be made available to English language learners to further enhance their educational journey. Non-native English speakers like myself would tremendously benefit from additional specialized language classes or tutoring. Overall, Irvine High School was a great experience for me, although I wish there would be more help in the future for language learners.
Irvine High is definitely what I would consider a “good” school. They have teachers who care, good support systems, and are funded well enough that they can provide Chromebooks to every student. But, it’s not without its flaws. While I’m not exposed to it as much as others, there is, to my understanding, an “underground” aspect of the student body that is associated with drugs, and school fights happen occasionally. Of course, these issues are not very prevalent, and the good outweighs the bad. I would like to see extracurricular organizations or activities to receive more support by the school administration in the future.
