Iroquois is a small school. Because of this, I have received significantly more one-on-one help from teachers throughout my 12 years in the school district. Additionally, the small size brings a sense of unity. While there are benefits, many drawbacks also that come with this. There are less resources and opportunities. Personally, I think guidance provides insufficient help. I felt lost signing up for SATs and applying for dual enrollment. No one told me those from economically disadvantaged homes could get their fee waivered, and nobody guided me through dual enrollment applications until very late in the process. Considering our large economically disadvantaged demographic, I‘d expect more opportunities offered to financially help students. Aside from free lunches, there is little help regarding this. I just wish both guidance and the administration had a higher consideration in that area.
This school is rooted in a small, tight-knit community where some teachers have taught parents (and even granparents) of current students. The town is invested in its youth. However, school spirit and morale is low due to a constricitng administration. Just let the kids be kids! The teachers are some of the best in the world, but they can only handle so much pressure from both sides-students and administrators. If the kids could tell that their teachers-their role models and example-setters- don't enjoy working there, the kids won't enjoy learning there.
The small-school experience grants the potential for students to become very well-rounded and involved, but the population of the school that takes advantage of this is small.

Iroquois is a good experience if you make it a good experience. The resources for seniors or any other grade isn't that efficient. The teachers mostly care about teaching their curriculum instead of getting kids to comprehend it. Our grade scale is more strict than other schools, even the schools that you have to be tested into (Collegiate Academy). The school could do a better job of preparing seniors for life on their own.
