The people are awesome! The teachers are alright there are some bad apples but overall pretty good! I would recommend much better than moundsview
They can get the school more involved with one another. They can have more interaction with your dean and talking through college more. Irondale feels like they just push you out the door and don’t talk about college.
It is a smaller than average school that has a wide array of opportunities for students. Irondale offers a huge variety of AP and dual enrollment classes while also having thriving sports teams. Teachers at irondale are more often than not very kind and engaging. having spent 4 years at irondale and heard from others about their experiences at other public high schools I am very glad to be where I am. Irondale also has amazing student support staff that have been so helpful in preparing students for college and beyond.
It was nice, although I believe they should've stressed AP Exams, dual enrollment, and CLEP exams more. It can save kids a LOT of money on college in the future, and if a school truly intends to help its students, it should've made it almost required for students to do. Otherwise, the staff was overall very nice and welcoming, and the building was adequate for learning.
I had an amazing experience at Irondale High School. I felt pushed to preform well and I felt supported by the staff around me. Despite covid I feel like I still got a chance at a slightly normal education throughout my sophomore year.
Irondale is the most diverse school I’ve ever attended it really offers everything and anything you would want to do in high school and really is a good choice for those who want the most eye opening experience to get you ready for life
The staff at Irondale are some of the most welcoming people I have ever met. These teachers and faculty genuinely desire success for their students and are driven to change our community. Although our sports are not the greatest, the atmosphere of the games and teams make up for it.
Irondale is a really good school. The teachers really care about their students. Their fine arts programs are amazing. I’ve met many amazing friends and teachers that will change my life forever. The parent community is very supportive of their kids and that’s what makes the community as a whole, so much better.
The staff are very supportive of students, especially students that reach out and advocate for the resources they need. There are many high level classes available including AP classes and college courses through Anoka Ramsey Community College. These courses are very helpful in preparing students for college.
I Like that the administration and staff are trying to help students as much as they can.
It will be better if minority students are not treated poorly.

Lots of opportunities of extracurriculars. Through out my time at Irondale highschool, I knew that I wanted to try new things and the school was able to give me that opportunity. After joining the Irondale orchestra, I stayed committed to it up until quarantine from covid. Joining the orchestra allowed me to travel to Austria to preform; this trip created key memories that I will keep with me as a reminder that music is an important part of my life.
The staff are very helpful + oriented towards making sure the students have the best experiences possible. There's a lot of activities for every type of person, lots of classes for all interests, and if there are ever any concerns, it's easy to walk into student services and ask for a solution. We also aren't penalized for late work. Only crit is that it seems like the district sometimes favors the other high school in the district over ours, but otherwise, we have a great experience.
Irondale is a pretty average school. There are definitely racial bias amongst the teachers, staff and administration.
While I have my own, rather unique set of events that lead to Irondale dropping the ball on education, I wouldn't put the fault on the school itself (I have a visual disability which they did not always properly accommodate). My junior year was more than enough to make up for my sophomore year.
My high school experience has been very turbulent there, from decisions that made little sense regarding student life and safety, to compromising marginalized student safety because of notoriety and trying to keep the status quo alive. As an LGBTQ+ student and a student of color, I have often felt that Irondale did not care much for my needs(with the constant inability to access gender neutral bathrooms and censoring discussions on queer history). Many services are not given to students because they are never discussed or made public to students that are not active in the schooling system either by a family member working there or generations entering the school.
I've been introduced to new friends and people who will help my future, I enjoy irondale highschool and what I will provide me.
Irondale is a great school! It offers college in the schools , AP and PSEO to further your education at no cost to the student. I took advantage of all programs offered and will be graduating with my AA degree in the Spring of 2022.
