Intown Community School Reviews
Rating 4.4 out of 5 5 reviews
Intown has been a blessing for my family after our experiences in a large public elementary school. In public school, the boys came home everyday unhappy and it was like pulling teeth to get them to tell us anything about their day. From day one at Intown, the boys have been all smiles, happy, and immediately tell us what they learned at school that day. When your child is in a good environment, they will love to learn and want to freely share how school was each day. Academically, Intown is great! As a neuroscientist, I’m thrilled with the emphasis on phonics and fine motor skills (e.g. cursive writing), which are proven teaching methods for young developing brains. I am so happy that we made to switch to Intown. Not only do my boys love school again, but they are catching up on their COVID learning losses from public school. We are so thankful for Intown, it has been a true blessing for our family. I highly recommend this school!
I am new to Intown and have found the community to be exceptionally welcoming and caring! As a Christian educator for the past 15 years, I can honestly say that the children are taught not just content, but how to critically think about that content and apply it to the real world around them. The staff are committed to their faith, to nurturing children across academic, social, and spiritual fronts, and to intentionally connecting the material in a holistic way. The families are eager to connect and really be that village for one another. If you're looking for an environment that is authentically Christ-centered and well-rounded, with an average class size of 10 students, then we invite you to come tour with us and see what a difference an Intown education can make to your family.
I have been extremely happy with Intown School as a parent of three children. The administration and teachers really love and care for the children. It is truly a community and there are expectations of regular participation from parents. In particular, the parents of each class meet monthly in the evening to pray and learn about what is going on in their child's class. The school is unabashedly Christian, but there is a fair amount of diversity of thought among the families at the school. The curriculum is designed to walk children from ancient to modern history from 4th to 8th grade and history is supplemented with "Living Books." These are classics or otherwise excellent books that help the students to better understand the times and cultures they are studying. Coming from the perspective of someone with high educational achievement, the curriculum is more than advanced enough and I appreciate the lack of focus on standardized testing for these grade levels.
