Language Acquisition in the International Track

Every student in the International Baccalaureate® (IB) Diploma Programme studies at least two languages: their best language and other languages taught as a requirement of the program. The School offers French and Spanish on a continued basis, while Mandarin, German, Japanese, and English are made available on a case-by-case basis. Prior knowledge of a second language is not required.

LILA is an outstanding school with a rigorous & enriching academic program that focuses on the holistic development of its students and gives individualized attention. For a small school, it offers a range of extracurricular activities. LILA students are polyglots, being able to navigate multiple cultures and countries in a variety of languages. While LILA may not be for everyone, for those, who cherish a challenging & demanding international academic program that prepares young people with a world class education, will find LILA an overall rewarding experience as we have. LILA students are all-around globally-minded, independent, confident, caring, kind, compassionate, inquisitive, intellectually curious critical thinkers who think outside of the box & who are ready to take on the world. The school has been responsive to any and all of our concerns, whenever they have come up. Choosing LILA was the best decision we made. This school is a gem!

Review International School of Los Angeles - Burbank

I love the family atmosphere this school creates! There is excellent diversity in such that all students come from various different backgrounds. The IB system at our school is very rigorous and prepares you very well for college workload and tasks. One thing I would like to see more of is school spirit! Things that would bring our school together to have fun such as pep rallies, senior merch etc. Another thing I really enjoy at our school is the extra curriculars such as volleyball, soccer and basketball. We all go to each others games and support one another.

Great academics, the French teachers are amazing. Unfortunately the head of school and the administration are terrible and ill equipped to deal with bullying and conflicts in general. Both our children went from pre-k to high school at LILA and what used to be a family oriented school focused on the French education has become a money making machine trying to get rid of the French section and dissuade kids to go that route to go the IB route, it is a real shame because what made LILA so special is gone, it is becoming another private school in LA without the amenities of other private schools in the same price range.
