The best part about being a student at Katy-Westpark is that you get the opportunity to build connections while learning how to be a leader of today and tomorrow. The worst part about being a student there is that a lot of the students there don't take advantage of what the school offers and so it leads to their downfall. As long as you keep up with the work and get the tutoring you need you will be successful throughout the year.
ILT was a place where I made so many of my childhood memories. They helped me grow and guide me throughout the years. However, ILT doesn't really prepare you for the harsh reality, especially if you plan on going to college. In college you wont have multiple times to finish assignments and get a grade. Teachers wont be forced to pass you and come looking for you when you wont turn assignments in. ILT is a good place to graduate from if you're conscious of this and know you are responsible for your assignments. But if you just want to have it is, you will at ILT, but then once you start college, it'll hit that group of people really hard and they will struggle. Overall I think ILT focuses to hard on students uniform and "dress code" rather than their grades and mental health. They will continue to punish for not wearing the right sweater, but will let a tardy student continue to be late and turn assignments in late with little to no punishment. That is why I give 3/5 starts.
I started my year in ilt in 10th grade. Honestly, back then, things were so nerve-wracking because it was my first school in the United States. The cafeteria was big and full of too many people, that I couldn't even enter there to sit with people, I just went to the bathroom most of the time, though later I did make some friends and it gradually became easier to enter the cafeteria. Moving on to my junior year, it was hectic, too many things to do as a junior for some reason. Things really started to stress me out, the school became an annoyance, too many things kept happening in the school and we'd end up losing some of our privileges because of them, I really hated that. Though I'm still sticking with the school as I'm about to enter my senior year because of the friends I have and also the fact that the school gives a lot of opportunities for us to actually pass the classes.
As a Alum of ILTKWHS, I am delighted to share my overwhelmingly positive experience with this remarkable educational institution. This institution has undoubtedly set a high standard for academic excellence. From the moment I stepped foot on the campus, I was welcomed by a supportive and dedicated faculty. The teachers at here are not only highly qualified but also genuinely passionate about their subjects. They go above and beyond to ensure that each student receives personalized attention and guidance, creating an inclusive and engaging classroom experience. One aspect that truly sets This School apart is its commitment to promoting cultural diversity and global awareness. The school embraces students from various backgrounds, creating an inclusive and harmonious community where we learn from one another's unique perspectives. The celebration of cultural events and the incorporation of global themes into the curriculum help broaden our horizons and prepare us to be global citizens.
I loved my teachers but the school has a very high turnover so the teachers we got close to were gone within 1-2 years. The academics didn't really challenge me, and because of the Eagle Academy system you cannot fail so it didn't prepare me for the work load that came with college. I love the people I met there and the really good teachers.
I have been at ILTKWHS for three years and I love their curriculum. The LOTE teachers are so interested in spreading their culture to us and love to teach us their language. The core subject teachers have an interest in and a genuine joy for learning and they love when I ask questions. They also love it when we are engaged so they know we understand what we are learning. I would say that going to ILT has definitely taught me a lot about leadership and giving back to the community. The school feels like a warm environment with the staff, and I love every day I spend there. The worst parts of my experience had to be during my freshman year as we were all online and I could interact with my fellow peers which made making friends really hard. I would like to see more AP classes added to the curriculum other than the core subjects as that could definitely help me and others in the schoolwork on classes that could help contribute to their major.
Over 22,000 K–12 students are served by International Leadership of Texas (ILTexas), a free public charter school with 21 campuses in the Dallas–Fort Worth, Houston, Cleveland, and College Station areas. Mr. Eddie Conger established ILTexas, and the Texas Education Agency accepted the charter in November 2012. All students at ILTexas have the chance to master the languages of English, Spanish, and Chinese. They also graduate with the skills they need to lead and succeed in the future in Texas, the United States, and abroad.
International Leadership of Texas, or as we call it, ILT, was a very unique school. It was a international based charter school that aimed to promote international relations with the inclusion of Chinese and Spanish language learning. It aimed to create leaders in society, but the execution was not quite there. The idea itself was great, but the management was irrational.
The staff are all very tired and do not know how to run the school in a stable manner. They resort to any form or punishment or restriction whenever the students do something completely normal for a public school. They care more about the image they are trying to hold up and their attendance. They have so many unreasonable restrictions put in place that just make the students dislike the school even more. The concept itself is great. I personally would have loved it, and I am sure a lot of the teachers thought so too until they started working.

I like that they teach us leadership skills while we are young and put in positions that will allow us to grow and benefit the world.
I attended the school from 2017 to 2021, and within that time, there have been a limited amount of programs. Hearing from my little brother, there seems to have been an increase in programs after I left which is good but quite funny. I would have liked to see some sort of computer science class while I attended, however, the school was fairly new. My experiences with the teachers were quite good - I met some nice teachers I could connect with over the years. Most of the time, it felt like they were focused on our education and college readiness, however, sometimes it felt like they didn't care.
I never had any problem with the dress code (we wore uniforms) or rules, but I have seen a lot of complaints and issues fall on deaf ears from students and parents. Either the issue was never solved or took years to fix.

I am a student at International Leadership of Texas - Katy-Westpark High School. I first switched to this school last year. I am used to moving a lot because I am a military kid. This is the last high school I will go to before I graduate. It is a nice school, but it is pretty small.
It's a fairly new school however there's lots of opportunities to engage in ILTexas KWHS . Apart from the regular course curriculum they offer a Chinese and Spanish program . This helps the students be more cultural aware and have new experiences. There's also lots of leadership opportunities additionally a leadership class that all students have to take. Sometimes some events can be disorganized but how I mentioned before it's fairly new. Also, the school requires a uniform that all students have to wear, this is great because students don't worry what they need to wear the next day and many won't get bullied because everyone is wearing the same dress attire.
I feel that there is room for growth. Many high school students will often exaggerate the state of their school because of the sheer disdain they feel towards it, apathy seeping through their perception of their school because of how it operates and its faults. This is not what I intend to do here. Organization and coordination could be better, teachers with proper qualifications could certainly help, and the constant nagging over insignificant issues would alleviate a load of stress from students. This is not to say the school is terrible, but instead to point out what is not making it a better, more positive teaching environment for such a small student body. Too much potential goes to waste because of a lack of resources, and too little stays in the mind of students during class.
This school was an experience. Small, but not too small. It was great community though, once you found your people. Most teachers truly cared about their students and education. There was always something going on, too.
the school is pretty good but it does not prepare your for the real world. The teachers are pretty good. It isn’t really that free, dress code is alright, phones are not really aloud most of the time. Overall it’s pretty good it’s just not a regular high school, there’s not a lot of options
ILTexas- Katy Westpark High School encourages students to work hard, learn three languages and be healthy. They offer many sports throughout the school year including clubs. Most teachers make sure students achieve their dreams and goals even after they graduate. Classes include, rigorous thinking, better communication skills and knowing how to work with others. ILTexas also has a program that helps students to know and learn all the latest information about before and after graduation. Things like college, scholarships, loans, jobs and so on. Definitely helps the students in all areas!
My experience at ILT was pretty good. Very active student body and a lot of events. What I think needs work is the education and the teachers.
Ive been in ILTEXAS for my whole middle school and high school , ILTEXAS has helped me learn a lot of good leadership skills while also applying them into our clubs and daily life. Ive been able to learn to appreciate my community more and help out within it through our OBS projects . Ive been given good opportunities through our many clubs like HOSA.
It is very diverse. The teachers all care about you passing and learning new things. The school is great over all with everything.
The staff are always making sure your on track and they always provide you with extra help when you need it.
