This is my child's sixth year at ILA. They understand both English, French, and some Spanish. The teachers all know her. She is confident and loves to learn. The forest is a fantastic environment for the children to regulate themselves as well as learn.
My son was 2yrs old when he started! We have had a great experience at ILA. His teachers (Victoria and Malika) were fantastic. Another one of my favorite things about the school is the lunch program, it is affordable and gives the kids such great exposure. The school location is also very unique, backed by a forest with little hiking trails. There was damages to the outside play areas due to the storms a few years back they have made it a mission to revamp the outdoor area and just installed a brand new play structure (french flag colors). ILA does such a good job being involved in the community. We've really enjoyed our time at ILA. Thank you for the great year!
My daughter is 4.5 years old and has been going to ILA for the past 3 years. She has developed a great relationship with the teachers and staff. Everyone greets her, gives her high fives, and makes her feel welcome. She always walks right into her classroom, excited to learn and play. The pandemic was easier to navigate with ILA because they kept their doors open and ensured that the kids were safe. I feel they can get better about community building and events with the parents involved, but with the past 2 years being in forced isolation, I'm sure that they are working to rebuild that. My daughter is learning French well and just sang her first song in French at her end of school performance. I'm very happy with her education and she will be attending next year as well.
ILA is a wonderful community! We have 3 children that attend and this is our 6th year! We were looking for language immersion with high academic standards and cultural diversity - it is all here. On the academic side, the students sit for the OAKS exam and consistently perform in the >90-95th percentile in English and Math. The school is certified by AdvancEd. The teachers are amazing with masters' degrees and highly dedicated. The classrooms have excellent student: teacher ratios (9:1). They have an outdoor school curriculum, music, arts, culture, Spanish and fabulous after school programs. The children have a variety of field trip excursions and even go to Hancock Field station and Canoe Island (French camp in the San Juans) for overnight trips each year. I highly encourage you to take a tour and check it out. That is how it all started for us and we are so glad we found it.
