Interlake High School Reviews
Rating 3.83 out of 5 416 reviews
My experience has been negative. The school’s academic rigor and competitive environment have created an immense amount of pressure on students to perform well and get into top colleges. The school’s culture is centered around studying and academic achievement, which can be overwhelming for students who are not interested in pursuing higher education.
While the school offers a wide range of academic programs, including the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program, the focus on academic achievement comes at the cost of student well-being. The school does not provide adequate resources to support students who are struggling with mental health issues or other personal problems.
Overall, I would not recommend Interlake Senior High School to anyone looking for a supportive and inclusive learning environment. The school’s focus on academic achievement and competitive culture can be detrimental to students’ mental health and well-being.

I was part of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program that was academically rigorous and challenging. I enjoyed the first 2 years of highschool as I was able to make meaningful connections and learn new concepts. Nonetheless, the last 2 years became too difficult for me due to the IB program. I felt like there was a invisible barrier that prevented me from reaching out to teachers for help. Furthermore, I was going through some issues with my mental health. Most teachers didn't seem to know I'm struggling and I felt like I was not getting heard even I tried to reach out to someone. The higher expectations with the program along with the lack of initiative and help from the staff, made it very suffocating for me. I would like to see teachers holding more meetings with students and taking the first step to ask student what's going on if he/she is falling behind. This school gave me the best and worst memories. Overall, I really had fun and learned a lot in the first 2 years.
The teachers are generally good. The main problem is the segregation between the AL/IB programs and the General Education programs which results in AL/IB students getting prioritized with better classes, better teachers, etc.
The counseling staff is overworked and have a tough time reaching out to students. There is also very poor and inefficient admin communication.
Reputation and money is clearly prioritized above students' mental health with many students being forced to learn both AP and IB content in the same class (which substantially increases the workload) so that they can take more standardized tests.
