My siblings and I were previous students of Ingram Sowell Elementary School. While I was a student here, the school focused more on preparing students for middle school and high school, rather than college. However, by time my siblings attended the school, college preparation was also a stressed subject. Many of the teachers that I remember were very kind and compassionate about their jobs, they really enjoyed teaching the new generation. In most standards, Ingram Sowell wouldn't be said as "diverse". However, one must take in the setting of the school. In the rural south, most of the students are natives of the area... therefore are either white or black. There were not many Asian-American students who attended the school, and the school itself was predominately white. But, Ingram Sowell did not discriminate against any color and was quite an equal provider to all students.
They do a lot with the kids, and a lot of the teachers truly care. But I feel there is too much "roughness" & bullying that goes on either unnoticed or allowed.
There were some clubs and activities there. Like drug free club, now they have FCA, girl scouts, cooking club, and the have EDP which is for kids who have parents who work late and a teacher keeps them in there classroom until their parents get there. They get a snack and drink and get to have fun.
