On February 2020 I transferred over from an IPS school. The opportunities that these schools provide are very encouraging for the students that attend here. Not only do the students get more hands on activities to their interested careers, but they build a foundation they will remember for the rest of their life. Some changes I would like to see are for the councilors to be more involved in the students well beings. The students here have so much potential but the administration has to push them more.
Indianapolis Metropolitan is a great learning experience/school for anyone needing support. Specifically, the small classrooms are what helped me get done what I needed to get done in the classroom. The teachers and staff are always checking up on you to make sure you are good mentally. I've never been to a school where the staff/ teachers actually care about what's going on in the student's personal life until now. My school also offers second chances, for example, if you fail an example of what my school would call it is a "mastery assessment". You can take it again the following week, and this week would be called "reteach week". Also if you are a woman who is pregnant Indy Met has a center for the kids, where they are being watched. So the women can still get their education on without having to stress over where they would leave their kid while at school. Overall Indianapolis Metropolitan high school is a great learning, safe, and comfortable enviorment.
My personal experience at Indianapolis Metropolitan high school had its ups and downs. I transferred their from a bigger school for basketball, I didn’t really like my teammates. They were toxic, and selfish but eventually we came together and won sectionals. But lost in regionals, but I got a basketball scholarship at the end of the season. So thanks to God, it all worked out in my favor. But what I’d like to see about the school change is it’s food. And to not have remediation days. Basically there’s a thing called remediation days, like a second chance if you fail an exam. The students who don’t fail shouldn’t have to a extra activist while the other students retake their exams. We should just have no school.
