I really like Connections! During the fall semester of 2021 I transferred out of traditional high school to Connections due to mental health issues, and overall I've been really happy with it. I like the fact that I'm allowed to work whenever I want and that I rarely have to go to zoom meetings or anything. The only issue that I've experienced was with finding information, or rather finding the right person to talk to. Often I will have a question and need to go through 3 or 4 people to get an answer. Other than that it's been good!
Indiana Connections Academy is an amazing online school! Their organization is very beneficial to someone who is easily overwhelmed by any amount of work. The site includes safe and simple to use resources, and the navigation of the site itself is effortless. The staff is ready during the day to help out with any questions students and parents may have, and the parents are very involved with their child's progress. Regular contact with teachers is achieved through Live Lessons, where students join in a virtual classroom and go through lessons with their teachers. There are deadlines by which lessons must be finished, and a student's entire schedule can be found in the planner. Message boards provide for quick links, notes from teachers, and necessary documents for lessons. As a bonus, INCA grants many opportunities throughout the school year for students and teachers to meet in person for activities and field trips (my personal favorite activities they offer are prom and graduation!).
This is my second year attending Indiana Connections Academy. Overall I would say my experience has been good. INCA gives their students the opportunity to have real world experiences as well as balanced education. I’ve found that I don’t get as overwhelmed by the amount of work assigned compared to public school. Most of the teachers I’ve had have been extremely kind. As a student I wouldn’t recommend INCA if you have trouble following directions or aren’t an independent student. It isn’t as easy to reach out to teachers or staff, so it is important that you as a student have those qualities of independence.
