Excellent across the board. The facilities are amazing and the teachers are capable and attentive. The community is supportive, caring and diverse. Highly recommended.
The beautiful campus of Indian Mountain School is surrounded by mountains and rivers. This school is multicultural, and the students here get equality and love. Every child's potential can be fully displayed here.
IMS is a warm, caring and authentic community. My son has grown emotionally and academically so much in one year. There is some magic in the approach and curriculum! Our family cannot thank the incredible staff enough for the growth and maturity in our son. Thank you IMS!!!
Horrendous school. Do not look at this school if you are not a local. Mother was informed by a secretary she “should be wearing Chanel” instead of jeans when coming to pick up her son who had broken his leg, an incident the school NEVER informed her of. On top of that, physical chores where still forced after being in a cast, with no transportation assistance given by any faculty or staff.
Local children are given clear favoritism in classes, teachers refusing to call on non “favorites”. Tutors nearly impossible to get for non locals as well. Many a extracurricular activities gated behind local transport the school will not provide, yet are stated as available activities.
Other non local students received similar treatment. Something we still speak about.
0 stars out of 5. By far worst of the 3 boarding schools attended. Phenomenal experiences at the others. Spend your money elsewhere. Do not give these people a cent of it.

IMS is a wonderful school it's a huge amount of space and everyone there is so welcoming even through these hard times I would recommend this school to so many of my friends.
IMS' campus and facilities are great. Schoolwork and academics are not as challenging as expected but you learn A LOT in most of the subjects. Teachers and dorm parents are also there to help mental and emotional health which is great. Sports are good and it opens up a lot of new opportunities. The dorms are very nice and modern and have a great community. However, the timetable is quite messy and hard to adapt to and the administration could be better.
IMS is a wonderful school with caring faculty, an emphasis on the outdoors and set in the beautiful NW corner of Connecticut. It is one of the few junior boarding schools that exist and with that comes an incredible diversity of students and experience for all. Highly recommend this gem of a school!
I have four very different children and each of their unique experiences has been amazing. Two are now at prep school - they entered prepared both academically and socially.
It is a terrific place to learn and grow. The mountain is a special place - the school is able to incorporate it into the culture, learning and activities in creative, productive and fun ways.
